Mabb said he’s been singing since maybe the age of 10, listening to an old, classic country that was always playing at home. “I guess I would always carry a guitar around the house acting like I’m playing it, and mom just asked me one day ‘do you want to learn how to play that thing for real, or what?,’” he recalled with a laugh. He has taken lessons from Mitchell’s Ron Frayne and Ted Schinbein over the years, and as he got older started to write his own songs. Mabb also got the chance to play the Bluebird Café while in Tennessee during open mic night, where idols Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks got their start. “If you’ve got a dream to chase, start chasing it because it’s never too late,” he said. “Don’t let people tell you you can’t do it because they’re the ones that are afraid to try.”
